Biomass and Cell Wall Lab Services

  • Biomass Processing (Grinding/weighing/aliquoting)
  • Biomass Extraction (Alcohol Insoluble Residue)
  • Services under development
    • NREL Mass Closure Analysis
    • Nitrogen / Carbon Compositional Analysis

Fee Schedule

Due to the nature of the throughput of our assays, we require a minimum sample submission size.

Each service includes:

  • A one-hour project planning meeting so we can understand specific project needs, outline a project schedule and estimate costs.
  • A one-hour follow-up meeting to discuss results and answer any follow-up questions
  • A methods write-up for publication
Assay Minimum Sample Quantity (mg) Minimum Sample Submission Fee per Sample Extended Price
Structural Polysaccharide 30 18 $74.08 $1333.44
Lignin Content 30 18 $48.00 $864.00
Lignin Monomer Composition 30 18 $69.85 $1257.30
High-Throughput Digestibility 15 82 $34.65 $2841.30
High-Throughput Compositional Tests 25 82 $34.65 $2841.30
Thermogravimetric Analysis 35 11 $69.27 $761.97
Biomass Processing (Grinding/Weighing) N/A 19 $14.21 $269.99
Biomass Extraction (AIR/DS) N/A 18 $9.89 $178.02
These assays require biomass extraction and preparation of Alcohol Insoluble Residue. If your laboratory has the capability to prepare extracted biomass yourselves, you will not be required to add that fee.

Data Retention Policy

All data generated from analyses conducted by the Biomass Analytical Facility will be made immediately available to researchers in either an electronic form or on a recordable media (CD, DVD, or other USB-recordable devices) upon request. It is very important that all researchers make archival copies of their data since we will retain data for only 6 months from time of collection. All data will be deleted after six months and will no longer be available.
